Did you know that there are many counselors and therapists out there that do not share any part of themselves?  That's the thing about counselors, we are all different and approach this work differently. 

 

I however believe that people feel the safest in relationships with others that they can connect with and it's virtually impossible to connect with a stranger, even in a clinical relationship. The clinical relationship still includes two people and its completely natural to wonder about your therapist. My philosophy on self-disclosure is that it can be appropriately used to improve the clinical relationship and is only to benefit the client.
